In order to make Education wholesome, meaningful and link it to life, the school undertakes the following activities and has ventured new initiatives.
Academic Endeavours To prepare students for competition in school and outside, the school encourages students to participate in and conducts various examinations and tests by recognized institutions like NTSE, Olympiads, Cyber Olympiad, Ramanujan Talent Search Exam, Vaigyanika, Khoj, participation in Science Exhibitions, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and other schemes etc. General Knowledge Enhancement – Inquisitive Club To expose students to the exploding universe of knowledge, G.K. and quiz activities are facilitated upto class X. Students have participated in events like Samsung Olympics Quiz, World Wildlife Quiz, CBSE Heritage Quiz, T.I.M.E. Quiz, ESPN Spelling Bee and Quiz by TERI, British Council, HT, NIE and others. Inquisitive club has been formed to promote general awareness. Health Concerns The I decide Club and Get Active Club have been introduced to draw student attention to this primary concern. Horlicks drink is provided on subsidized payment basis. Health Checkups are regularly conducted by qualified and experienced doctors. In association with HRIDAY SHAN, campaigns against drugs, AIDS, tobacco have been organized. Walkathon-Walk on Health Day to spread awareness regarding good health has been taken out. Junk food and aerated drinks have been banned in the school canteen. Tiffin timetable is stressed upon till class III. Competitions on Yogic Aahar are organized. Physical Development The school is a lead school in PEC India – a CBSE and British Council Initiative. The programme lauched in primary classes aims to provide an interesting learning experience to children and facilitate the process of engaging them intensively in sports activities. Lawn Tennis Academy & Table Tennis Academy provides coaching to desired students. Classwise Projects To provide ample exposure and opportunity to all, different classes have been assigned different projects like UN Project, Human Rights Project, IQF Quality Improvement Project, Literacy Project and others. Classwise Assembly Classwise Assemblies have been very successful in tapping the potential and talent of students and giving them opportunity to display it. It has facilitated teamwork, cooperation, creativity and innovation. Talent Hunt Activities To promote competition and give platform for participation, Interclass, InterHouse and Interschool events like CROSSROADS, Spectrum, Biznomics and others are organized. Class Presentations Presentations are made by Primary and Nursery classes on different themes. These ensure involvement of every child of the class. Environment Friendly Projects In order to combat the hazards of environment, Eco awareness club has been formed. In association with organizations like NDPL, GLOBE, TERI, NCT Bhagidari, activities on garbage management, water and air pollution testing, energy conservation etc. are conducted. Eco Club has been framed to promote these activities. Communication Skill Enhancement Conversation classes have been incorporated in primary classes to motivate students to express coherently in English. Through a centralized mike system, oral exercise drills based on pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, story telling etc. are carried out in classes. Promoting Reading The school offers NIE scheme of the Times of India at subsidized rates and fortnightly magazine Primary Plus to encourage reading. The organizations also offer workshops and trips for students. Besides, books have been assigned to different classes for extra reading. Activities and tests are conducted on the basis of this reading. The school library houses nearby 25,00 books, magazines, journals and reference books for all classes. Social Service Projects To sensitize students as per CBSE guideline students towards the underprivileged section of the society, the school has joined hands with SOS Childrens’ Villages of India. Helpage India, Manav Kalyan Sansthan. Funds have been contributed by Collecting old newspapers under GROWL scheme for the All India Confederation of the Blind, Sector 5, Rohini. Slum Sewa Havan is conducted, talks delivered and books distributed in neighbourhood slum cluster on monthly basis. Personality Development Personality development classes by eminent resource persons and Charitra Nirman Shivirs are held to inculcate moral values, good habits and to groom the personalities of students. Hawan is conducted on regular basis for students of all classes. Ved Path is a compulsory subject upto class X. Computech Activities CYBERITE – The Computer Club of the school organizes various activities and competitions and releases periodic issue of CYBER TIMES . The school website provides important school information and is regularly updated by students. Seminars, Workshops, Orientation, In-Service Programmes To update students and teachers with latest updates in education and generate awareness of the same amongst parents, workshops and seminars are a regular feature of the school. Recreational Activities Film shows, picnics, trips, excursions are regularly organized to reduce drudgery and monotony and make education enjoyable. School Website The School website is dynamic and effective and provides all information about the school. Circulars, Holidays H.W., Marking schemes, Assignments are loaded on the site. Smart Classrooms Electronic Boards have been installed in class rooms and e-teaching has made a tremendous impact with its audio and visual appeal and by opening new vistas in learning. Adopt a Child Policy and I Quest Classes Teachers in classes UKG and V give extra coaching to slow learners under the ‘Adopt a Child Policy.’ Similary intelligent and gifted students are extra coached especially in Maths and Science by teachers of senior faculty. Peer Mentoring and Monitoring Emphasis on group activities and group discussions have promoted peer monitoring and monitoring and benefitted both the intelligent and slow learner. Peer Mentoring Activity is also carried out by teachers upto class V where they share their powerpoint presentations, discussion with each other. Counselling The school counselor has been conducting sessions on personality development, time management, career guidance besides attending individual cases of behavioural problems. Life Skills To inculcate positive attitude and moral values, the Life Skill programme as evolved by CBSE under CCE has been implemented. Group discussions, talks are held to highlight and discuss problems, solutions, lessons of ethics, morality etc. Yoga and meditation classes are also conducted on regular basis. Paper Recycling Unit For its efforts towards sustainable development and protection of environment, the school was awarded a solar inverter and a paper recycling unit. Recycled paper is being used in school administrative tasks. Good Citizen Projects Human Rights Day is celebrated annually. Pamphlets on human rights are distributed amongst people. The school runs a Heritage Club which generates importance of preserving monuments etc by class projects, celebration of Heritage Day, Heritage Walks and other projects. By joining hands with Global Friend Schools, Global Voting is held to vote for WCPRC (World’s Children Prize for the Rights of the Child) PEC India A CBSE and British Council initiative under International Inspiration, PEC (Physical Education Cards) India Programme has been implemented in primary classes. The programme provides a variety of activities for the total physical development of the child. |
